kodachrome
If you love photography (as I do), you'll enjoy these old WPA photos. Kodachrome had a few problems at birth, but within a year or two became the premier color film of all time. Nothing has ever surpassed it for resolution and archival qualities. Sadly, it has essentially died out and only one lab in the world will still process it, and then only 35mm.
The WPA was a good thing for America at the time, and because they paid professional photographers to document the program we have a legacy of photographs, many in color, that realistically documented that period in our history. This site is well worth a look if you like history and photography.
Great pictures from America's past.

a simple hello
I am still not ready to come back but have participated in a twice monthly challenge...you can find it here...
how did the challenge know that putting it into written words was what I needed?

after my son's football game, we went to a local pizza place to eat. when we came out, the sun looked incredible. the restaurant was adjacent to a cornfield. the kids wanted to go just into the field...and they were saying, if you build it, they will come....so out came the camera and they posed and let me move them to just where I wanted them I was able to snap a few photos of them before they started to complain. we have not had rain here in about two months other than a brief shower or two. everything is so darn dry! so, here are a few of the resulting photos. I am going to post a few more at my other site if you wish to see more of the time we spent in the restaurant parking lot.

believe it or not, I have never used a photo enhancing/altering software. I have corrected red eye in shutterfly/kodak, etc, but never altering the image, per say. Perry suggested converting to B & W...I finally downloaded the software that came with my camera....figured out how to convert to B & W but not how to keep the eyes as is. maybe someone can suggest what you use? I can take B & W, sepia on the camera but the original was normal, color, with flash. so, here is the converted B & W. now all I need is your feedback and suggestions on what software would be best to allow me to convert only portions of the photograph.
oh, and thanks, if I forget to tell all of you how much fun this has been since I started the photo page. if you read back to previous posts, my love of photography comes from my Dad. I don't own other lens and usually just point and shot. I wonder what sort of photos I could take if I really invested in it...but thanks!!

I know, I know, another cat picture. I saw the ending of a great sunset, parked in the driveway in hopes of grabbing the camera and getting the shot. it took all of three minutes, because I had to drive down the street to photograph around the trees...and by the time I got there, it was gone. so instead, here is my cat, nightro. my oldest, and first cat ever. to think, I was afraid of him the first night he was home.
