natural light and then flash

I ventured outside to play with my camera...I have an option to take two photos back to back..the first with natural light followed by one with flash. if you don't move around too much, you are getting the same photograph with different lighting...what do you think?

Play play play! You can never get enough use out of a flash. They are all great but I must say that the 3rd set from behind the flower is quite striking! You get all the nice detail in the flower AND the sky. Also the flash really makes the flower "pop" with color and contrast. Something we all strive for!! Next time you want to play with a flash try a white reflector for fill or 2 flashes. You can really get some interesting light!

Oh! Another thought..... Because you like the flowers on sky, I do too, try a polarizer. I *finally* got one this week to fit my lens I use most and the sky results were awesome!

jumped to your site through Perry's site. I'm glad I did. Love the flower images. You gave me some more ideas. Thanks for the look.

Hi, That Girl. =) Thanks for leaving the comment on my blog; sure, it's fine to add my blog (and thx for asking first). =)

I have to consciously stop myself from using the flash a lot of the time. It's a holdover from my film SLR camera, and also because I needed it to get pics of my daughter at both my houses (they were too dark for no flash, for the most part, or else my daughter moved too quick). Unfortunately I don't automatically think of using natural light all the time...but I'm learning.

I actually like these shots better without flash. Seems more natural and the shots have fewer distracting shadows from the flash. But I've found sometimes it's necessary to still use flash with flowers. So hard to tell when it's better to use flash and when it's not.

Good luck with your photography! =)
